会议简介与主席致辞
“第二届西部生物医学国际论坛”将于2014年6月19日-24日在有“戈壁明珠”之称的新疆石河子市举行。本届论坛由新疆生产建设兵团科协、外专局和石河子大学，联合国内外多所大学共同发起和参与，主题为“骨代谢与干细胞、肿瘤、心血管疾病和代谢性疾病”，届时将有20余位院士和海内外专家应邀做专题演讲，旨在通过国内外同行间的学术交流与相关领域的研究合作，促进西部地区尤其是新疆生物医学和转化医学研究的发展，提高重大疾病的诊断治疗与综合防治水平。
石河子市是一座军垦移民新城，曾获联合国“人居环境改善良好范例城市”和中国首届“人居环境奖”。石河子大学有65年办学历史，是我国最西部的一所“211工程”和国家西部重点建设高校。近年来，学校引进了包括“长江学者”和“绿洲学者”在内的海内外优秀人才合作开展生物医学研究，成果发表在Nat Med、Nat Biotechnol、Cell Stem Cell和Cell Signal等期刊。希望本次论坛能为我们今后开展更深入的国内外科研合作与交流提供机遇。
我们诚挚地欢迎海内外同道们相聚绿洲新城，畅谈交流与合作，共同谱写生物医学新篇章。

The Second International Biomedical Forum of West China (IBFWC)
Welcome Letter
Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure to invite you to the Second International Biomedical Forum of West China (IBFWC). It is going to be launched on the June 19th -24th, 2014, in Shihezi city, by the Association of Science ＆Technology and the Bureau of Foreign Expert Affairs of Xinjiang Production & Construction Corps, and the Shihezi University-associated university group. The theme of the forum is the ‘Bone Metabolism & Stem Cell, Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, and Metabolic Disease’. It is aim to improve the biomedical and translational research and promote the level of prevention or treatment or cure towards the major illness in the west part of China, especially in Xinjiang, through the academic exchange and cooperation.
Shihezi is a new immigrant city, which is well-known as ‘the desert jade’ among Chinese. In the 1990s, the ‘Improving of Living Environment Good Example Prize’ and the ‘Habitat Environment Prize’ were to be awarded to the city by UN and Chinese government respectively. The Shihezi university was established since 65 years ago, it has been developed as one of the ‘211 project’ school in the Northwest of China. For all these years, the school has absorbed many excellent scholars from outside and funded the cooperation projects on biomedical research, and the fruits of some cooperation were published on the core journal such as Nat Med, Nat Biotechnol, Cell Stem Cell and Cell Signal etc. This forum will also provide many opportunities for the further academic exchange and cooperation.
We sincerely welcome you to join us in this beautiful city from all over the world. Please feel free of speaking glowingly of academic collaboration and enjoying your stay.
